“ Insanely cheap banh mi. For $5.5, I think it is worth every bang for your buck. Tucked away in a little corner of the street, you'll come across this small, local, over the counter service with a small but good selection of vietnamese food. The special banh mis are the ones that cost more than $5.5, but even then, everything is extremely affordable. If you need lunch or a quick bite, come here for that. This place is run by locals and you can see them in the back working on your order. It is a very small space so you just come in, order, and leave. And like many other reviews, this place is cash only. ”

“ Their banh mis are exactly what I'd imagine a no frills traditional banh mi tastes like. What stood out though was their amazingly creamy pate and mayo which married so well with the fresh pickled veggies and meats. We saw them cutting fresh jalapeños and everything was made to order and warm. The only thing I wish was different was that they would give more pickled carrots / turnips to balance out the sandwich even more. Besides that, a hefty delicious banh mi for $7?! “ Cash only!! Grabbed some sandwiches to go on a hike at 9 am on a Sunday. Even though others have warned me about the Tenderloin area, I didn't feel unsafe at all (as a lone female). There were security guards in the area for other stores, not sure if they are a permanent fixture or not. Sandwiches came out super fast. Even after hiking for 3 hours, the sandwich still tasted fresh and delicious. I got the combo banh mi, I absolutely loved the pate. Paired great with the crunchy pickled vegetables, chili, and cilantro. For $7 you really can't beat this amount of filling in a sandwich. It was truly incredible and one of the best things I've eaten recently. I would definitely recommend Saigon Sandwich and I'd visit more often if I lived in the area. ”

“ Behold this beauty that I did not feel like I risked my life for, this time around. I think I came here the year before and it was insane!! Could have been in the moment that I was there but there but there were tons of cops in the area with shady and drugged up people who could snap at a moment's notice. This time it was different. Didn't feel like my life was necessarily in danger. Now, would I want to sit outside and enjoy this banh mi under the sunny day with a nice refreshing drink? I think not. No such environment for that leisurely pace exists. Get in and get out. They know what they are doing and they are damn good.
